TOEFL TEST FORMAT:

The TOEFL exam consists of four sections:

Reading (60-80 minutes):
○ Analyze reading comprehension through academic texts.
○ Answer questions related to main ideas, details, and inferences.

Listening (60-90 minutes):
○ Listen to conversations and lectures.
○ Answer questions that assess understanding of the spoken material.

Speaking (20 minutes):
○ Respond to prompts and express opinions.
○ Your responses are recorded and evaluated by raters.

Writing (50 minutes):
○ Write essays based on reading and listening tasks.
○ Demonstrate coherence, organization, and language use.

SCORING:
○ Each section is scored out of 30, with a total score ranging from 0 to 120.
○ Individual institutions set their own minimum score requirements.
○ Best of all scores are considered at the time of application.

  • Canada- iBT minimum score of 83
  • USA- Minimum score of 70-80 (undergraduate) and Minimum score of 80-09 (graduate)
  • Germany- overall score of 60

How long is the TOEFL valid?

TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the test date.
