Who Can Apply?
To qualify for the Start-Up Visa Program, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- A Qualifying Business – Demonstrate that your business idea aligns with Canada’s economic objectives and has strong growth potential.
- Letter of Support from a Designated Organization – Secure backing from an approved Angel Investor, Venture Capital Fund, or Business Incubator.
- Language Proficiency – Meet the minimum language requirements in English or French to effectively manage your business (e.g., IELTS General 7.0 or equivalent).
- Sufficient Settlement Funds – Prove that you have the financial resources to support yourself and your dependents upon arrival in Canada.
Recent Updates and Changes in 2024
- Application Cap – Effective April 30, 2024, the number of permanent residents accepted under this program will be capped, limiting applicants associated with no more than 10 start-ups per designated organization.
- Priority Processing – Entrepreneurs whose start-up is supported by a Canadian capital group or a business incubator that is a member of Canada’s Tech Network will receive priority processing.
